SEMPCA 2015: Spring Tour
I’m not sure what I have done to upset the weather Gods lately but I am now 0 for 2 with event weather! Thankfully, our members are a hearty group and were not going to let a little (or a lot of!) rain, wind, and cold prevent them from enjoying their Porsches for an afternoon of spirited driving.
As I stood shivering alone in the parking lot of the Vista Tech Center, I was gradually warmed by the sight of Carreras, Boxters, and 944s slowly filling in around me. In no time it was clear that we were going to have a robust turn-out after all!
With soggy drivers briefed and soggy waivers signed, we were off on our way towards Ann Arbor and the promise of a break in the weather. Miraculously, the rain ceased and for the next two hours we experienced drying pavement, and little traffic, as we carved up the twisty and undulating back roads north of Ann Arbor and the Pinkney Recreation Area.
With the route safely navigated by everyone, we gathered at Bravo Cucina Italiana where a cozy private room was set for us. The staff at Bravo was friendly and efficient and soon we were all enjoying delicious food and the warmth of good conversation and friendship.
Thanks to all who decided to brave the elements and make this a memorable afternoon and evening of driving, food, and camaraderie. This is truly what makes our club so great.
