HOW MUCH IS MY CAR WORTH?
By Michael Cohen
A few days ago, while at Pasteiner’s Autozone Hobbies, I picked up the 2013-2014 edition of Excellence’s Porsche Buyer Guide. This is a great quick study reference manual covering most of the Porsche street nameplates past and present, and discusses product highlights, problem areas and gives a value guide for each. I compared the values in the 2013-2014 edition to the 2012 edition of this guide. somewhat arbitrarily picking models to compare, so this is not an all inclusive study. In almost all cases, prices increased from 2012 to 2013.In some cases, Excellence’s valuation mirror what I have personally observed. In other cases, their valuations are significantly different from transactions that I have encountered. According to Excellence, from the sample I chose, the 1989 911 Turbo and 1983-1986 928S show the greatest year to year percentage increases, while the 1973 – 1974 914 and the 2008 997 GT 3 were the only vehicles to show a decline. Below is a table comparing 2012 and 2013 valuations.
